Unveiled by Steve Jobs at the Macworld Keynote on January 7 2002, the Apple iMac G4 computer was immediately hailed as a marvel of computer design and technical innovation. It was an incredibly elegant machine and every bit as intriguing now, but in the context of what it was back then, it was other worldly. Not everyone interested in such an historically iconic computer necessarily knows a MB from a GB, but most anyone can understand that the iMac G4 computer envisioned and designed by Steve Jobs and Jony Ive was and still is unlike anything else ever on the market. Technically they may be light years behind todays computers but the iMac G4 and its innovative OS X operating system are still being used worldwide and are in part the foundation of the modern digital age and pieces of American history.This auction includes the Apple iMac G4 20″ computer complete with the original Apple wired keyboard and mouse, speakers w/covers, power cable, firewire cable, reference manuals, discs and the shipping box with matching serial numbers. A couple things of note… Being that the system has been in secure storage for almost 10 years the battery needs replacement. In the ‘about this computer window’ the ‘more info’ button is not responsive. The cd/dvd drive works mechanically however the drive does not read or write cd/dvd and as I understand is an easy and inexpensive fix for those so technically inclined (an external cd/dvd drive was used for the 2 dvd screen grabs). The cooling fan is a little noisy but apparently this is common to all the G4 models. Overall the beautiful bright ice white original factory finish of the computer is near flawless (there are several faint swirls on the screen bezel however at a regular viewing distance not really noticeable and only so under close scrutiny).
