STOCK PHOTOS ONLY Chemicus: Journey to the Other Side is a Myst-styled adventure set in an alternate reality that features more than 2000 3D images, animation and movies. Accidentally thrust into this mysterious world of sacred power and scientific knowledge, players must solve riddles, apply chemistry-related formulas, and unlock secrets to forge their escape. Chemicus continues the series of learning adventures from Denmark-based Klett-Verlag Publishing that feature educational disciplines such as math, physics, history, and biology. With step-through screens reminiscent of Myst and Riven, explorers visit a variety of locales including a Secret Lab, The Lost City, and the Tower of Knowledge. Puzzles require multiple trips to places like the Temple of Hydra, a central control room housing a transporter terminal, an observatory, photo lab, organic chemistry lab, steelworks, volcano, doctor’s office, analysis lab, disposal hall, and balloon dome among others. Complex puzzles feature test tubes, pipettes, flasks containing aromatic potions (e.g., pear, banana) and scales, while inventory and experimental items include things like pot ash, acetic acid, rose oil, quicklime, turquoise glass beads, methanol and much more. This two-CD title includes a complete walkthrough in the form of a .PDF file (Adobe Acrobat provided) for players who become stuck when trying to create chemical formulas (e.g., C9H13N1O3) or become lost in the maze of backtracking. Gameplay in Chemicus is mouse driven and features a changing cursor used to navigate and initiate action. Hints and help are available from the Chemicus Brain Center, which is filled with “knowledge chips” found throughout the adventure that contain information about the properties and transformation of substances, atom structure and chemical bonding, electrochemistry, acids, lye and neutralization, and organic chemistry. For DOS games, you may need to play it with a free DOSbox program if the Program Compatibility Wizard does not work. 64-Bit Windows OS Systems: For 64-bit Operating Systems, older games most likely will NOT work due to 64-bit systems not being able to run 16-bit programming code (most games prior to 2000). For DOS games, you may need to play it with a free DOSbox program. Macintosh Systems: For Macintosh programs, most older games will need to be run in Classic Environment if you have a MAC OS X 10.0 – 10.4 version. Please research Google on how to do this, or send us a message for information prior to purchasing. If your MAC OS system doesn’t support Classic Environment (ie. MAC OS X 10.5 or Higher OR Intel Macs), you will have to try running it using the free program called SheepShaver, but compatibility is not ensured. CD, DVD, floppy drives, etc.) If the item comes as a floppy disc, make sure you have either the needed 3.5″ floppy drive or the bigger and older 5.25″ floppy drive.
