It verifies that the item won/purchased has been certified by Timothy Hughes Rare & Early Newspapers to be authentic & original. The certificate includes the item title and date, and may only be purchased in conjunction with one of our offerings. FAQ: Why not include the certificate up-front? Most collectors who purchase from us recognize that we are one of the world leaders in the resale and collection of historic, original newspapers, and do not need a certificate to certify this. They understand we do everything possible to keep our costs as low as possible in order to keep our offering prices low, which ultimately helps to promote the hobby. Offering the certificates on an “as needed” basis helps contribute to this effort. I’ve already purchased and paid for authentic item from you but I did not order a certificate.
